Copyright & License

If you buy my music only to listen yourself, of course you don’t need the license.

Royaly-Free – Use my music and save money!

Normaly, when you use any music track for your project or event, you must pay a license fee to a collecting society (PRO, e.g., ASCAP, GEMA, JASRAC…). But not for my works!

I’m not a member of any PROs and manage the copyright of my works myself.
If you pay once on my license-shop, then you don’t need to pay any expensive and complicated fee to PRO any more.
The license fees of my works are much lower than the fees of the PROs.

General

Q: Why do you require money for each use instead of to share? I like your music, but I don’t like your style “money, money, money”…

A: Because I’m a professional musician and I earn a living with music.

YouTube has a nice system still now. But their system is very instable and they reduce the price for monetization constantly. And in our niche sector, we earn almost nothing on YouTube…

The big music streaming services like Spotify or AppleMusic are very common now. But the artists receive incerdibly few money – 0.01 to 0.1 Cent for each listening… This means, to earn 100 Euro, you need at leart 100,000 lesteners…

Now I offer two new systems – self-management of subscription-site and music license.
The both systems are indeed very new and may be a bit strange to you – But they are the fair systems and they maybe grow from now.
I would be grateful if you support me through these systems!

Q: Are the music of Naochika Sogabe free of any P.R.O. royalties (e.g., ASCAP, GEMA, SACEM)?

A: Yes, all of my tracks are free of any Performance Rights Organizations (e.g. ASCAP, BMI, GEMA, IMRO, JASRAC SACEM).

Q: Is it safe to shop on naochika.com?

A: value security and use secure SSL certificates. Our servers are located in Germany. We do not have access to sensitive PayPal or credit card details; these remain with the payment provider and your bank.

Using license in projects

Q: Which type of projects are valid?

A: You find the list of valid projects here.

Q: Where can I publish my project?

A: You can publish and/or sell your project (e.g., a video) anywhere. You can find examples here.

Q: Can a project consist of multiple files?

A: No. A project can only consist of one file at a time (e.g., one MP4 video file). Exceptions are adaptations (e.g., language versions, a short version, converted file formats).

Q: Is a course made up of several videos a project?

A: or a course that consists of several videos, you need a separate license for each video.

Q: Can I use a song in several projects with one license?

A: No, one license is required for each project.

For example, if you use one same song in five videos, you need five licenses.

Loops:
One license may be used multiple times (e.g., as a loop) within a project.

Multiple language versions:
If your project will be released in different language versions (e.g., with different subtitles or native speakers), you need one license.

Adaptations:
You can create short and edited versions of your video without another license so long as no new footage is added. If new images or sound material is added, another license must be purchased.

Q: My project will be exported to numerous technical formats. Do I need a new license each time?

A: No. So long as the project content does not change, you can export it into any number of technical formats.

For example, you can export your video to 16:9, 1:1, and 4:3 formats.
You can export your podcast episode to WAV, MP3, and AIFF formats.

Q: Do I have to place a copyright notice on my project?

A copyright notice is required for a Public-NonCommercial license and not for a Commercial license. To avoid any queries, we recommend to include the footnote also for a Commercial license.

Q: Can I use one license for an intro and outro of one project?

A: Yes. To use a music in an intro and outro (e.g., in videos or podcasts), you need only one License. Then the intro/outro can be used in any number of episodes.

Q: Can I post videos I’ve created for a client as a reference on my own website?

A: Yes. You can publish client videos on your website without purchasing an additional license.

Q: What has to be considered?

A1: Uploading projects to fingerprinting databases not allowed

It is not allowed to upload your project to fingerprinting-databases like “Content ID” (e.g., via digital distributors like AdRev, TuneCore, Audiam, Feiyr, CD Baby, Distrokid, Indiefy etc.). Uploading projects that use music from music libraries into a fingerprinting-database can lead to false copyright claims. This causes problems for other users or for future projects.

A2: Use only in a valid project

A track can only be used in a creative media project (e.g., in a video). The use of music without a project is not permitted. Please click here for an overview of valid project types.

It is explicitly not allowed to use a track in any music productions (e.g. by adding vocals or rap or as a remix, compilation, etc.).
